Classmate, I remember our days at Lanier High School! Lions forever Remember! The saxophone player you were in marching band. I remember that always smooth, contemplative demeanor. Always cool with that thoughtful smile. Rest well God's Soldier!
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the New Hope Foundation we extend our deepest and sincere condolences. Brother Davis was a devoted board member of the New Hope Foundation and served as treasurer. The New Hope Foundation is a nonprofit organization with the mission of restoring and maintaining the historic New Hope Rosenwald School. The school was constructed in 1919 under the stewardship of Booker T. Washington and philanthropist Julius Rosenwald with the intent of providing quality educational opportunities for African American children in the rural South during a time when those basic liberties were not available to these children. Brother Davis was passionately involved in the restoration of the school. He believed in the cause and just as important a host of his relatives attended this school over the years. He would often talk about what this school meant to them and to himself knowing that so many family members had attended. The passing of Brother Davis saddened our hearts, but it motivates our spirit to reaffirm that our mission will be completed. His contributions to the organization will be difficult if not impossible to replace. Brother Davis will be missed but never forgotten. Board of Directors, New Hope Foundation
When i first went to work at DHR I shared an office with Lanny. He taught me a lot about being a Social Worker. I enjoyed working with him. He will be missed by many people.
