Mr. Larry Kelley of Alexander City passed Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Russell Medical.
Funeral service for Deacon Larry Kelley, Sr. will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with interment following in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
Deacon Larry Kelley, Sr. was born August 18, 1951 to the Mrs. Ernestine Buckner Kelley and the late Mr. Willie Kelley in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. At early age, his family moved to Detroit Michigan, there he was educated. In 1969, he graduated from Detroit North Western High School after graduation he matriculated to Wayne State University there earning a Bachelor Degree. On February 4, 1980, he united in Holy Matrimony with Minnie Jordan. Deacon Kelley was a faithful and devoted member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Larry was well known by many for his 30 years of dedicated service at Piggly Wiggly as the Deli Manager. He had a passion for cooking and he loved his “Minnie” and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Kelley and one brother, Douglas Kelley. On Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Russell Medical, Deacon Kelley answered the called of God to move from his Earthly house to his Heavenly home. Larry’s precious memories will always be cherished, by his wife of 38 years, Minnie Kelley, his mother, Earnestine Kelley both of Alexander City, Alabama; two sons, Larry D. (LaKesha) Kelley, Jr., Roderick (Betty) Kelley, both of Alexander City, Alabama; two daughters, Lisa Lawery of Alexander City, Alabama; Yolanda (Marcus) Jeter, of Union, South Carolina; four brothers-in-law, Rev. Cebron (Bessie) Riggins, David (Mary) Jordan, and Jimmy Jordan, all of Alexander City, Alabama; Sam Marable of Anniston, Alabama, two sisters-in–laws, Cary Thomas of Alexander City, Alabama; and Cassandra Maxwell of Florida, a special aunt, Betty Spradley and an uncle, Marvin Buckner, both of Alexander City, Alabama, six grandchildren, one great-great child, and a host of cousins and friends.
