Mr. Milton C. McConnell Jr. entered this life on May 15, 1947 in Carrollton, Georgia to the Lozie Bell Ridley and the late Milton C. McConnell Sr. Milton transcended this life on Friday April 17,2020.
Milton graduated from Carver High School in Carrollton, Ga. He was drafted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea before returning home. Milton was employed with Southwire Corporation for 36 years. While employed with Southwire Corporation, he attended Business school in Atlanta for 2 years.
Milton McConnell Jr. married Louise Bonner (Franklin, Ga.) on July 17, 1971. They happily married for 39 years. Their union brought forth two children.
He leaves to cherish his memories his two sons, Milton (Diane) C. McConnell III of Palm Bay, Florida and Michael (Annette) A. McConnell of Villa Rica, Georgia; Two very special grandchildren, Darian Myles McConnell and Kamry Lashea McConnell. One brother, Kirk (Dee) McConnell of Lawrenceville, Georgia; two sisters, Sarah (James) Henderson of Carrollton, Georgia and Belinda (Elliott) Alexander of Rome, Georgia; a very special cousin, Maudie Kate Lindsey (Hogansville, Georgia);a super special friend, Gale Walker (Villa Rica, Georgia); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Milton McConnell gave his life to Christ at an early age. He became a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church (Franklin, Georgia) where he was ordained as a Deacon and later joined the Westside Baptist Church where he served as a dedicated and faithful member for many years.
He truly was one of God’s greatest servants. The love and compassion he bestowed upon others was a true testament of the type of servant that God would have us to be. He was an excellent father figure to many. His voice will continue to echo through the vista of time. He gained his wings from this life, but his life will always be remembered.
Private Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 24, 2020 at Carrollton City Cemetery. Pastor Keefe Lane will officiate.
Public viewing will be held on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 restrictions there will be a limit of 3 people at a time in the Funeral Home with social distancing of six feet.

I worked at a Metsl Brokerage that worked with Southwire. from 1982 till 2005. I spoke to Milt many times a day before faxes and computers to get metal prices. He was one of the high points of the day. he was always happy and a very genuine person. I finally got to meet him in person several times at the consumer night when he came to st. Louis. The world was a better place because of him. He told me about his boys and I told him about my wedding and then my kids came. I feel blessed to have known him.
Truly sorry to hear about Dec. McConnell passing. He was such a sweet, caring and humble man of God. Sending you all love, prayers and our deepest condolences. He will definitely be missed. Rest in Heaven Dec. McConnell.
It is with great sadness that I share thoughts on such a High Class Man of God! I will never forgot how welcoming Dec. McConnell made me feel while attending Westside Full Gospel Baptist Church while in college. He was always encouraging, inspiring, and respectful. I am sharing in your sadness as you remember such an amazing man! Milton, dear sweet man of God, my strong mentor over 20 years ago at Southwire. I have so many stories of you and I traveling the scrap world together, you taught me so much, I am heartbroken to hear of your passing.
My dear cousin Milton you was such a distinguished gentleman . A kindhearted, loving, caring, soft spoken man. A man who cared about people. You never failed to ask about mom and the family when our paths would cross. I know you will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved you. You've received your healing. You've gained your angel wings and now you can soar like an eagle. Rest well my dear cousin.
A well known servant of God has been called home to rest from his labor to get his crown and rewards. A well liked man of God whose life style spoke volume to all who knew and was acquainted with him. He will be truly missed.
