On August 12, 1953, The Late James Huguley and Ethel Lee Dorsey gave birth to a precious gem. They named her justly- Daisy Queen Huguley.
Daisy grew up in Valley, AL but also spent several summers with her brother and sisters in Panama City, Florida making lasting memories with her family that resided in that area.
Nevertheless, this could not stop a budding romance from happening. Daisy attended Rehobeth High School and was a part of the Class of 1971. She started a romantic relationship with a young man by the name of Jimmy L. Winston. The two have shown through their time together just how inseparable they would become.
Daisy and Jimmy married and started a family in which they both contributed as working parents. Daisy worked for the next 20 years in the Textile Industry as a weaver for Fairview and Riverdale Mills; however, this was not her true passion. Daisy desired to contribute more vastly in the community by fulfilling the need for dedicated, trustworthy and dependable childcare. When Daisy retired in early 2000, she did just that. She helped a tremendous amount of families by being a staple in the local area by supporting them with the upbringing of their kids. She started first with Terence Reed, continued with her many grandchildren and flourished with several others in the neighboring community. She was deemed part of their village. She continued in this capacity until she started dialysis treatment due to kidney failure in 2009. Dialysis, which she openly called “work”, did not stop her from Working for God!
Daisy contributed greatly to the church as a saved and dedicated worker for the Kingdom. Her works will be missed as she served as Usher’s Ministry President, Women’s Day Captain, Deacon Wive’s Chair, Homecoming T-Shirt Chair, Missionary Society Secretary, Youth and Junior Usher’s Counselor. She would attend dialysis, take a brief rest, and still support Pastoral Anniversary planning, Pastoral Aide, Senior Citizen and Women’s Ministry and even lend a hand in the kitchen.
The left entrance into the sanctuary of Rehoboth Baptist Church will have an absent essence from the faithful doorkeeper and contagious smile that it once continuously possessed by none other than Momma Daisy.
On August 31st, 2020 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama, God called the Queen home to join her King and the King of Kings!
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 48 years, Dea. Jimmy L. Winston, parents, one sister- Doris Mae Huguley; One Brother- James Roy Huguley, Jr.
Her survivors include: four children, Dr. Sherman (Tonya) Winston, Tryman Merrell (Denise) Winston, Ryan Nakia (Sophronia) Winston and Courtney (Michael) Winston; sibling, Dorothy "Dot" (Walter James) Finley; siblings-in-law Geraldine Strickland, Regina Atkinson, Cassandra (John) Brown, JaCalvin( Lynn) Atkinson, Kevin Williams and Steve (Tasha) Atkinson; one aunt, Georgia Lee; one godson, Darian Howell and, a host of grandchildren who affectionately refer to her as "Mama", great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, lifelong sister-friends, other relatives and friends.

Happy Happy Happy Birthday to my Queen B!!!!! Also and forever a Queen in my eyes. Life is running at 100 MPH, and some days I just want to sit in the chair beside your bed, while you're laying on your right side watching tv rubbing your feet and fingers together and just vent, even if you don't say anything back but "you'll be alright. I done been through a lot with your granddaddy and we still making it." I can hear part of you saying "if you want to work it out, work it out. Don't give up on your husband either." However, I can also hear you saying "don't let him stress you out or run your health into the game. you don't need him. you just want him. she just jealous your husband don't want her". LOL LOl LOl!! you always been funny! I am pregnant now, finally giving pumpkin head a sibling. I hope its a girl with dimples, just as deep as yours. I love and miss you so much and I know you'd have my back either way I went.
I love you and miss you dearly, Ry.
As I am approaching my birthday, I can't help but to think about your birthday. You always looked forward to celebrating your day and I would say, "Mom, let's get past my birthday first. Lol." I always anticipated my new work dress that you would always get just right for me and of course, a "lounge around dress". Missing you forever and ever. Still trying to make you and Pop proud of your baby girl.

God has still been good and holding me together. i love you so much!
mama.... it's been 139 days, and i wish i could say it's getting easier but it has not. there has not been one day you haven't been on my mind. although the tears have stopped, the urge to see you and talk to you and granddaddy again have not. i wish i could hear him just say my name one more time without the "h" lol and say i love you more granddaughter. yawl have raised me so good, with the help of God, and i wish i could create more memories with you two time & time again. the love never stops. i love you two always and forever. -Ry/Arsianna.
