Reverend Tykenya Kanarris Jackson, 44, of Valley, Alabama, entered eternal rest
on December 16, 2025. Born on September 5, 1981, in Valley, Alabama, Tykenya
was the beloved child of the late Elizabeth Sherrell and the late Edward Foy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Henry St. George; and
grandparents, Buddy and Mary Sherrell; and Fred Foy.
A lifelong resident of the Valley community, Tykenya graduated from Valley High
School in 2000.
In 2004, Tykenya was united in holy matrimony to Shavonna St. George, and
together they shared a life rooted in love, commitment, and the joy of rearing two
wonderful children.
Tykenya accepted Christ at an early age and joined Rehoboth Baptist Church.
He later answered the call to serve and was ordained as a deacon in 2009 at
Pleasantview Missionary Baptist Church. Continuing his spiritual journey, he was
ordained as a minister in 2011 at Christ Missionary Baptist Church. In later years,
he united with the Upper Room Church in Valley, where he continued to grow in
faith and fellowship.
Known for a strong work ethic, a caring spirit, and a heart for service, Tykenya
faithfully served throughout his working life. His dedicated service included
employment with West Point Stevens; Wal-Mart Distribution in LaGrange,
Georgia; and most recently with Chambers County School Systems, where he
faithfully served as a custodian and a school bus driver, caring deeply for the
children and community he served.
Tykenya’s favorite pastime was cooking for his family while enjoying the fragrance
of burning candles.
Tykenya leaves to cherish a loving memory: a devoted wife of over twenty years,
Shavonna Jackson; two children, Kiara Black and Tykenya (TJ), both of Valley,
Alabama; loving in-laws, Kathy (Bubba) Avery of Valley, Alabama, Dorothy (the
late Henry) St. George of Geneva, Alabama, Rev. Irvin (Christine) Gibson of

nieces, Briana and Nadia Pace; and other nieces and nephews. Tykenya is also
survived by a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members, and dear
