Obituary For Ms. Juliette Slaughter Holloway

Ms. Juliette Slaughter Holloway, a resident of LaFayette, AL, died Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Bethany House Hospice, Auburn, AL.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. (EST) from O. H. Ministries, 4128 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Lanett, AL, Bishop Bertha Hodge, Pastor, Elder Mary J. Boykin & Pastor Edward Lane, Officiants and Pastor Timothy Silmon, Eulogist.

Interment will follow in Handy Cemetery, LaFayette, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.

Public Viewing is scheduled for Friday, August 14, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. (EST) at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.

Ms. Juliette Slaughter Holloway was born May 29, 1934, to the late Mr. Denson Slaughter and the
late Ms. Elizabeth Glaze, in Chambers County, “White Plains Community”, Alabama—also known
as Chapel Hill. In her early childhood, she relocated to LaFayette, Alabama where she called home.

Juliette departed this earthly life and entered eternal life on August 6, 2026, while her devoted
duagher, Mary Julia was singing and praying at her side.

She confessed Christ at an early age at the Pine Grove United Methodist Church, and later in her
youth, united with Friendship Baptist Church #2 in the Buffalo Community of LaFayette where she
was a faithful servant. She served for a decade as President of the Usher Board, and chief usher.
She was also very active in the Missionary Society, and her contribution to the kitchen was her
tasty cornbread. She loved her Friendship Church Family and continued to serve under the present
leadership of Pastor Curtis Spidell until her health began to decline.

She was employed at Chambers County Hospital as a Housekeeping Supervisor for 25+ years, until
the hospital closed. She later gained employment at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley,
Alabama and was Housekeeping Supervisor for 10 years and 5 months until she retired.

Juliette was quiet spirited and soft spoken. Her hobbies included cooking—no one could top her
famous homemade biscuits. She was a Big Fan of WWE wrestling, and enjoyed conversing and
watching wrestling with her great-grandson, Timothy Silmon, Jr. She also enjoyed going to WWE
wrestling events in Atlanta with her die heart WWE wrestling buddy/cousin, Darnell Holliman.
She also enjoyed fishing, and playing dominoes with her children, grandchildren, family, friends,
and neighbors—earning the name, “Dominoes Queen”.

She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and
god-mother to many. She will always be remembered for her unconditional love, unwavering
support, selflessness, and willingness to sacrifice for the well-being of her family, friends, and her
community.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: two sons, Clinton Holloway and Larry Holloway; two
daughters, Dorothy Parkmond, and her loving, devoted caregivers, Elder Mary Boykin and her
husband Donnie; a very supportive granddaughter, Malanda J. Boykin; two step-children, James
King and Peggy King; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren;
one aunt, Beatrice Glaze; special cousins, Mary Ann Harris and Otis Glaze, who she helped to rear;
a god-daughter, Linda Haynes; and, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
