Ms. Cynthia Madden, a resident of Valley, AL, died Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital, Evansville, IN.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. (EST) from Community Baptist Church, 1300 Whitesmill Road, Valley, AL 36854, Rev. Amos Newton, Pastor, Rev. Dr. Jonathon Carter, Eulogist, Evangelist Dr. Jessica, Officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, 1335 River Road, Valley, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary directing.
Public Viewing is scheduled for Friday, September 5, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.
Ms. Cynthia Madden was born October 24, 1958, in East Chicago, Indiana to O.D. Madden, Sr. and Willie Lou Carter. Cynthia began her spiritual journey at a young age under the guidance of Rev. A.R. Burns at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hammond, Indiana. She subsequently joined New Hope Baptist Church in Hammond with Pastor Herman Polk, Sr., and later continued her faith development in Valley, Alabama, where she became a member of Community Baptist Church led by Pastor Core and served as the Sunday School teacher.
Throughout her career, Cynthia resided in several states, successfully balancing her professional responsibilities with dedicated support for her nieces and nephews. Ultimately, she established her home in Valley, Alabama, where she assumed a vital role in caring for both her family and her mother. She spent the later months in the care of Saline Care Nursing in Harrisburg, Illinois.
Cynthia received her education through the Hammond and East Chicago, Indiana school systems, culminating in her graduation from East Chicago Washington High School. She continued her academic pursuits at Indiana University Bloomington, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing. This qualification enabled her to begin her career as Transportation Manager for the Washington DC Metro. Following this role, Cynthia leveraged her marketing expertise at Service Merchandise, serving as Jewelry Retail Manager.
She was also a proud member of the AKA Sorority Inc. Additionally, Cynthia provided significant support to family members and was a valued resource to the residents, families, and friends within the Valley AL community.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her grandfather and grandmother, father and mother. Also, brother, O.D. Madden, Jr.
On Sunday, August 24, 2025, Cynthia Madden entered eternal rest at the Deaconess Memorial Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
She leaves to cherish her memories: brothers Willie (Peggy) Florence, Elder Wayne (Dr. Jessica) Madden, Rev. Dr. Jonathon (Dr. Sylvia) Carter, Eric Lewis; sisters Beverly (Beverly H. Jr.) Lipford, Elder Teresa (Milton, Jr.) Davis and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
