On March 1, 1931, a beautiful baby girl made her entrance into this world. Lelia Pearl, affectionately called Pearl to many, was born to the parentage of Leona Core and Joe Patterson.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Friendship Baptist Church in Valley, Alabama. She was a faithful member-- serving in the choir, kitchen, as a Missionary and in other ministries as well. She attended Branch School in Fairfax (now Valley), Alabama.
Lelia was blessed with an awesome marriage for 55 years to her beloved Arthur Walker. To this union 12 children were born.
Graveside Services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Pine Hill Cemetery, Lanett, AL with Rev. L. C. Thomas officiating. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.
Public Viewing is scheduled for Monday, September 7, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. from Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Leona Core and Joe Patterson; her husband, Arthur Walker, Sr.; brothers, Leon Bandy and Frank Patterson; sisters, Georgia Brown, Mary Griffin and Mary Alice Carey; granddaughter, Sh’Diamond Glaze; great-great-granddaughter, Arielle Beaty; three sons-in-law, Norbert Travis, Callie Davis and Jimmy Thomas. Lelia Pearl Walker peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 surrounded by her family at her home.
She leaves to cherish many loving memories: 12 children, Elizabeth Davis, Mary (David) Watson, Mae Ruth Thomas, Arthur Walker, Jr., Patricia (Eddie) Harris and Brenda (Gary) Wright all of Lanett, AL, Christine (Irvin) Gibson, Douglasville, GA, Jerry (Almeda) Walker, Opelika, AL, Eddie (Bridgette) Walker and Dorothy (Roosevelt) Gibson both of Laett, AL, Joseph (Catherine) Walker, LaFayette, AL and Gerald (Keshia) Walker, Lanett, AL; one sister, Dorothy Harris, Lanett, AL; sister-in-law, Alma Walker, Lanett, AL; 40 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
