Griggs, Mrs. Jimmie L. Ware, a resident of Lanett, AL, died Friday, February 19, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Lanett, AL.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. (EST) at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Parking Lot, 1601 Magnolia Road, Lanett, AL, Rev. Dr. Lamar D. Johnson, Pastor/Officiant, Rev. Calvin Daniel, Eulogist.
Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Lanett, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.
Public Viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.
Jimmie Lee Ware Griggs was born April 17, 1946 in Chambers County, Alabama to the parentage of Hall and Minnie Ola Nelson Ware. On Friday, February 19, 2021, the Lord called and she answered obediently.
Jimmie accepted Christ at an early age and attended the Church of Nazarene. Later in life, she joined Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama. Jimmie was employed at Letica Company for 35 years. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, cooking/baking, and most of all, chatting on the phone with her family and friends. Jimmie was truly an inspiration to many.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Eddie Pete Griggs; her brothers, Lee Ware, Eddie B. Ware, Ed Lee Ware, and Bobby Lee Ware; sisters, Pearlena Carlisle, Hattie Ruth Truitt, Neidar Pearl Ware, and Lizzie Smith.
A legacy of love is entrusted to the following survivors: daughter/caregiver, Betrina Ann (Clinton) Spratling, Lanett, AL; sons, Lamanuel Bernard (Nicole) Ware, Hogansville, GA; Cedric L. Ware and Alfred A. (Tammie) Ware, LaGrange, GA; two nieces she reared as her own, Theresa Ware (Bobby) Moore, also a caregiver, and Tameka Ware both of Lanett, AL; 11 grandchildren, Trineshia Spratling, Vera Mae Huguley, Lamanski Ware, Zeborah Ware, Ian Holloway, Amir Ware, Raneshia Spratling, Ayindae Ware, Anton Ware, Jylan (Emma) Ware and Miles Ware; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Ware, Brooklyn, NY and J. T. (Terry) Ware, Lanett, AL; a special nephew, Jessie Lee Truitt, Brooklyn, NY; 12 stepdaughters; eight stepsons; two sisters-in-law, Yvonne Griggs, Opelika, AL and Lena Ware, Brooklyn, NY; three special friends, Shirley Pollard, Ann Alexander and Nellie Barrow; and, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Praying for comfort and understanding during this difficult time. When I meet Jimmie a few years back it was almost as if I had known her for a lifetime. She had the sweetest spirit about her and made me feel so welcomed being around her family! Family she'll live forever in your hearts! RIH sweet lady! ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
Aunt Jimmie I love you and I will always remember my days with you in the summers. ๐ฅฒOut there staying over going to the grocery store playing with my cousins , driving with you every where. You were part of my development to a man and the man I am today. I love you Rest in Paradise your Nephew ๐
