Jackson, Mr. Willie Franklin, affectionately called "PeeWee", died Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.
Graveside Services with Military Honors are scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. (EST) at Pine Hill Cemetery, Lanett, AL with Rev. Robert L. Ray officiating. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.
Public Viewing is scheduled for Friday, December 11, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.
Mr. Willie Franklin Jackson was born on January 24, 1950 in Chambers County, Alabama to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Carrie Glaze Jackson. Affectionately called “PeeWee” by his family and friends, Willie departed this life on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at EAMC Opelika, Alabama.
Willie was a United States Army veteran and received an honorable discharge after more than seven years of service. He earned the rank of Sergeant during his active duty tours in Vietnam, Fort Campbell, KY, and Fort Benning, GA. Sergeant Jackson received many military honors such as the National Defense Service Medal., Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Bars (2). Upon discharge from the Army, Willie relocated to Columbus, Georgia. He was united in holy matrimony with Jackie Jackson. This union produced two children, Mario and Toby Jackson. Eventually, Jackie and Willie divorced and he moved back to Lanett, Alabama where he lived until his death. PeeWee will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Jackson, Sr. and Carrie F. Glaze Jackson, a sister Andrea Denise Stargill, and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Glaze and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jackson.
Willie leaves to cherish his precious memories to: his sons Mario Jackson of Atlanta, GA and Toby Jackson of Columbus, GA; his brothers, Robert L. Jackson, Jr. of Lanett, AL, Jerry (Debra Ann) Jackson of West Point, GA, and Charles Jackson of Valley, AL; his sisters, Robin (Eddie) Flakes of Lanett, AL and Carla Winston of Valley, AL; his aunts, Dorothy Booker, Rose Devance, Mary Evans and Jessie P. Jackson all of Lanett, AL; his uncle, George Jackson of Lanett, AL; his brothers-in-law, Kerry Winston of West Point, GA and Luther Stargill of LaGrange, GA. Willie will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, greatnephews, cousins, and friends.
