Mr. Michael M. Dent, a resident of Valley, AL, died Friday, June 26, 2026 at his residence.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. (EST) from Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Family Life Center, 1601 Magnolia Road, Lanett, AL, Rev. Justin Freeman, Pastor, Rev. Corey Huguley, Eulogist, and Rev. Eddie Reece, Officiant.

Interment will follow in Fairfax Cemetery, Valley, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.

Public Viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.

Michael Macares Dent, affectionately known throughout his community as “Mike D The Mayor”, was born September 6, 1972, to Mary Ann Lee and the late Charlie Dent. On June 26, 2026, Michael peacefully transitioned from this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Dent, his grandmother, Mary Ray, and his grandfather, Robert Osbey.

Michael was a devoted husband, loving father, caring son, brother, grandfather, uncle, and loyal friend. He possessed a larger-than-life personality and had an incredible ability to make everyone feel like family. His warm smile, infectious laugh, and genuine spirit earned him the beloved nickname, “Mike D The Mayor”, because he never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

A dedicated plumber by trade, Michael took great pride in providing for his family through honest, hard work. Beyond his profession, he embraced life with passion and enthusiasm. He enjoyed performing in stage plays, expressing himself through the arts, dancing, singing, and creating unforgettable memories with those he loved. Whether at a family gathering, community event, or simply spending time with friends, Michael was often the life of the party, bringing joy and laughter wherever he went.

Michael was a proud graduate of Valley High School, Class of 1992, where he formed lifelong friendships and built the foundation for the relationships he treasured throughout his life. He remained connected to many of his classmates over the years and proudly represented the Valley High School family. Whether attending reunions, supporting fellow classmates, or simply reminiscing about the good times, Michael carried his Ram pride with him and cherished the bonds created during those formative years.

On December 31, 2014, Michael married the love of his life, Shequita Huguley Dent. Together they built a beautiful marriage founded on faith, friendship, and unconditional love. Their bond remained strong throughout the years, and they shared a life filled with cherished memories until his passing.

Michael leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted wife, Shequita H. Dent; his beloved children, Keionte Dent, Jayla Higgins, and Taylor Scott; his bonus daughter, Tanishia Ashford; his loving parents, David and Mary Ann Lee; brothers, Craig (Karen) Dent, Barry (Bonita) Dent, and Orlando (Tonya) Collins; sisters, Stacy Dent, Brandi (Donald) Allen, Brittany Dent, and Shanoria Speight; his treasured grandchildren, Deon Avery, Treneycia Harris, Heaven Campbell, and Master Patton; devoted aunt, Margaret (John) Gray; mother-in-law, Donna Huguley; sisters-in-law, Brittani (Jason) Reaves, Shaneedra Williams, Destiny Briskey, Demaya Briskey, and Deshonta Briskey; brother-in-law, David Williams; devoted nephew, Craig “Quon” Swain; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will forever treasure his memory. Michael also shared a special bond with David Thompson, Jordan Thompson, godson, Calvin Moody, Kevin Fanning, Barrett Watson, and his Oakland Heights Family whose friendship and brotherhood meant so much to him throughout his life.

While our hearts mourn his absence, we rejoice in knowing that Michael’s faith, love, laughter, and legacy will continue to live on through everyone whose life he touched. His memory will forever be a source of comfort, inspiration, and joy.
