Newton, Mr. John O., a resident of Valley, AL, died Friday, September 17, 2021 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, AL.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (EST) on Sunday, September 26, 2021 from Friendship Baptist Church Parking Lot, Valley, AL with Rev. L. C. Thomas, Pastor officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Valley, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.
Public Viewing is scheduled for Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.
John Oliver Newton, affectionately known by his close friends and family as "Bubba" and "Big Daddy", was born on November 17, 1950 to the late Ervin Newton, Sr. and Minnie Lee Booker-Newton. He answered the call from his master on Friday, September 17, 2021 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, Alabama.
John was born in Valley, Alabama and was reared in the Huntsline Community. He joined the Friendship Baptist Church at an early age, where he served faithfully as an usher, until his health declined. He was a 1969 graduate of the former Rehobeth High School, and was employed by and retired from West Point Pepperell. John enjoyed spending time with family and close friends and was always up for the challenge of a good game of Dominoes with family and friends on Huntsline.
John was preceded in death by his parents and other close family. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, three brothers; Ervin Newton, Jr., James (Linda) Newton and Charles (Shelia) Newton, all of Valley, Alabama; two sisters, Betty Winston, Lanett, Alabama, and Helen (James Gray), Montgomery, Alabama; several nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly, Reco Newton, Jamelia Hayes, Lasheta Newton, Keegan Newton, Ivan Newton, Charles M. Newton, Alicia Newton, Jamiece Gray , Rihana Williams, Cedric Newton, James Gray, Jr., Nicole Mcknight, Calvin Winston, Raymond Winston, Eric Winston and Sadaski Winston; great nieces and nephews, who he adored; Deja Newton, Antwan Newton, Darell Shaver, Jamarion Newton, Johnathan Hayes, Raven Winston, Erientra Winston, Toylasia Winston, Ivyauna Winston, Najino Winston, Erian Winston and Cameron Winston; a special and caring friend, Lawanda Middleton, Valley, Alabama , a cousin, who he loved as a sister, Henrietta Williams, Minneapolis, Minnesota, (and her daughter), Nicole Williams, Jacksonville, Florida; numerous close cousins, relatives and friends.
