Eric Lashon Finch was born February 28, 1972 in Valley, Alabama to the union Jeffery L. and Mae Lyons Finch. At an early age, Eric accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined St. Stephens Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. He served in different capacities including; a member of the Male Choir, Men to Ministry and the Steward Board, and served faithfully until his death.
A graduate of Valley High School Class of 1990, he was active in various student activities, including football. Eric was employed at Uniroyal/BF Goodrich for over 20 years. He was also a member of the United Christmas Program Committee for the Greater Valley Area for over 10 years.
Eric was affectionately known at “Big E” by many. If you knew “Big E”, you knew his love for hunting and fishing, his dogs, Auburn football, picking numbers and being the best mixologist in the area. He really enjoyed being with family and friends just to have fun. He would have the best time cooking and concocting a story for all to laugh. It was Eric’s desire to bring a smile to your face through his food. His cooking would make you think you wanted food, even when you were not hungry. He was undoubtedly a CHEF EXTRAORDINAIRE.
“KING OF THE GRILL”, keep smiling ‘til we meet again!
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Leamon Brooks Lyons and his paternal grandparents, Wyatt, Sr. and Hazel Jones Finch. On Friday, September 21, 2018, Eric made his transition into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his parents, Jeffery L. and Mae Lyons Finch, Valley, AL; brother, Cedric Finch, Macon, GA; sister, Pretrice Finch (Charlie) Williams, Lanett, AL; aunts and uncles; niece, Tanisha Sands, Columbus, GA; and, a host of loving relatives and friends.
