Mr. Charles Jerome Pollard, 74, was born February 21, 1948 to Alfred and Lillian Williams Pollard. “Doctor” or “Tank”, as he was affectionately known, could always be found laughing and cracking jokes. You were guaranteed a good laugh and a playful “blessing out” whenever you were in his presence. He had a way of making everyone feel special and had a nickname for everybody!
Charles attended Lanier High School graduating in the Class of 1966. He was a star football player, who at halftime would march with the band. He loved sports, especially football and instilled this love of sports in his children. He always enjoyed watching his favorite teams— the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves. He was employed by West Point Pepperell for many years.
He was also employed by Lanier Farms, where he developed a love for landscaping. This led him to start his own landscaping business. He believed in making sure he provided quality service for every landscaping job he had.
Charles was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama. He was an ordained deacon and took pride in serving on the Deacon Board. He also served as past Sunday School Superintendent. He especially enjoyed attending Sunday School where he could learn more about the God he served. Deacon Pollard was a faithful member until death.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; siblings, Mae Julia Mays, Howard Lee Pollard, Mary Rowland, Willie Joe Pollard, Willie Pearl Ransom, Michael Pollard and Chris Pollard. Mr. Charles J. Pollard departed this life for his heavenly home on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
