Mr. Bobby Lee Truitt, Sr., a resident of Lanett, AL, died Friday, July 12, 2024 at his residence.
Mr. Bobby Lee Truitt, Sr. was born on January 14, 1944 to the late Maggie Truitt and Andy C. Darden in Chambers County, Alabama.
Mr. Truitt attended and graduated from Rehoboth High School in Fairfax (now Valley), AL. He united in marriage with Doris Scott in 1964. Their union was blessed with three children, Virgil, Bobby, Jr., and Tywanda. He was a devoted member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church where he served with the Usher Ministry until his health declined.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Maggie Truitt and Andy C. Darden; two children, Tywanda Truitt, and Bobby L. Truitt, Jr.; his grandparents, Matilda Truitt and Peyton Truitt; and one sister, Vera Miles.
He is survived by: his son, Virgil (Tabitha) Truitt; his grandchildren, Tara Truitt, Virgil Truitt, Jr., and Joseph Truitt; great-grandchildren, Jaelin Truitt, Devon Truitt and Camron Johnson; sisters, Erma Ruth Davis, Margaret Truitt, and Brenda Truitt; brother, Ralph (Jan) Truitt; a dear cousin, Rudene Woodyard; special friends, Bobby C. Stiggers, Leon Hodnett, Mae Ella Moss, Eddie B. Walton, Jr., and Anthony “Pee Wee” Harris; his former wife, Doris Washington; and, a host of nieces, nephews , other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. (EST) on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel, 305 W. F. Burns Drive, Valley, AL with Bishop Donald Lancaster officiating.
Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, 2167 22nd Street SW, Lanett, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary directing.
There will be no public viewing.
