I'm not good at these things. I have no words to express the sadness and shock I am in. I hate the only way I can say goodbye is through my blue lit screen. Karen, my beautiful, supportive, kind and incredible grandmother. I have always loved and adore you endlessly. You are the glue that holds this family together especially with the last two years. My heart hurts that I will never get to have one more hug from you. My heart hurts that my kids will never to meet you in this lifetime. I pray and hope that our Brandon (dad) was there to greet you in warmth, love and purest light. Thank you for your unconditional support and love. I'm going to miss you endlessly and I love you forever.

Karen was an amazing & strong person , who had a very large gift of faith. She gave others joy and strength , through her many testimonies of God's goodness , grace, love , and mercies , in her life. Her Father, my Uncle Clinton , and my Father Sylvan Bales , were brothers and best friends , all the days of their lives. Karen and I were best friends , growing up in Indiana. She moved to Atlanta , when were in Elementary School . Although I visited her in Atlanta , we lost track of each other . The funny thing was , we both raised our families in Arizona, her in Tucson , and me in Prescott . Finally several years later , we found each other on Facebook. Our friendship was rekindled , and we also became Sister's in the Lord . I was able to visit with her several times , and meet her family. We shared the Lord often through prayers , encouragement , calls and texts. This I believe was the Lord's will. I am so glad we got to spend the last several years , as friends, supporters, and Sister's in the Lord! Karen was a gift giver. I had just received a box of gifts she had put together for me , just a couple weeks before she passed away . My life is better from knowing her , and from the destiny of us , being cousins , and sisters. She was a sweetheart and very caring person . Her greatest gift was the love of Jesus Christ that shined brightly in her ! I am so happy you got your wings Cissy! You really deserved them! I'll catch up with you there, on the other side . All are blessed to have known her. May God's love and grace encompass her family at this time ! Love , Genie

Words cannot fully express the sorrow I feel after hearing of the passing of my Grandma Karen. She was such a wonderful, kind-hearted, and influential part of my life, and her loss leaves a deep void. One of the things I'll never forget is how supportive she was of my art. When I first began exploring the hobby, I remember showing her a drawing I'd done, and she immediately encouraged me with such enthusiasm, she even took me shopping for art supplies. Grandma Karen had a way of making everything feel special. She would spoil me in the most thoughtful ways, like when we'd go out for lunch and she'd take me to get my hair and nails done or buy me new clothes. But it wasn't just about the material, it was the time she was willing to spend with me. We would joke and gossip, and she would always lend an ear and advice when I asked, even if it was just about some silly teenage girl drama at the time. Even when she couldn't visit in person, she always made sure to stay connected. I could always count on her to reach out, whether it was to check in on me, ask how I was doing, or send me something I needed. Ranging from something for school to a new phone. She had this incredible way of making everyone feel loved and heard, and her absence is felt deeply by so many of us. My heart truly goes out to everyone who is mourning her, because I know how painful this loss is. Grandma Karen was more than a grandmother to me, she was a friend and a constant source of love and support. I will miss her every day.

My heart is broken. My deepest condolences to my father-in-law, Byron, and to our whole family.
Mama Bear Karen was such a beautiful soul inside and out. She was funny, full of life, and always a joy to be around. She had this incredible way of lifting people up and helping in any way she could.

I still remember the first time I met her, I was in high school, best friends with her son, Michael Brandon. From day one, she welcomed me into her home with open arms, made me laugh, and made me feel like family.

Years later, she's the reason her son (the love of my life) and I got married.

After his unexpected passing, she became my biggest supporter.

I honestly don't know how I would've made it through these last two years without her love, encouragement, and constant presence in my life.

I'll miss our weekly texts, sharing new music, our faith, crafting ideas, stories, and memories.

I'll miss our talks about life, kids, love, and everything in between.

Over these past two years, she wasn't just my mother-in-law, she became my best friend. I will miss her every single day. Love you forever, Mama Bear. ❤️

A blue candle for Karen's beautifully blue, sparkling eyes. Karen loved deeply. She loved her sons and grandchildren with all her heart. I worked with her at the University of Arizona in Tucson, but she always pined for Atlanta, where she and Byron fell in love and married. I wish her light and love in her continuing journey.
