Karen Sue Veasey, born on December 17, 1955, in Marion, Indiana, passed away from a stroke on 10-27-2025 in Gainesville, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and dedication. Karen was the cherished daughter of the late Clinton Bales and Gertrude Neu. She graduated from Fulton High School, where she began a lifelong journey of learning and caring for others.
Karen was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Bales, and her son, Michael Brandon Hill (Michelle). She is survived by her loving husband, Byron Veasey; her sister, Lisa Groce; her son, Brian Hill-Kipling (Maggie); her granddaughters, Sasha Hill-Kipling; Alexiah Keiper; Mikayla Keiper; and Summer Hill; her grandson, Roderick Hill; and her cousins, Genie Munson, Cathy George, Carol Waswick, Stephanie Marlow, Nelson Bales, Gregory Bales, Cindy Lewis, Jamie Bales, Debbie Males, Stephen Bales, Taffy Schutt, Tim Zimmerman, and Todd Zimmerman.
On June 25, 2010, Karen married Byron in Helen, Georgia, and together they built a life filled with joy and companionship. Karen found happiness in making crafts and spending time with her four beloved pets: Dexter, Shane, Gigi, and Daryl. Her warmth and creativity touched everyone who knew her.
Karen retired from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she worked as a staffing coordinator. Her dedication and kindness made a lasting impact on her colleagues and the institution.
Karen will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to family, and her passion for the simple joys in life. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
