Wilburn Lee Maples, known to many as Wil, passed away on March 14, 2024, in Valley, Alabama, at the age of 92.
Wil was born on February 24, 1932, in New Hope, Alabama. He was a kind, caring, and generous person who dedicated his life to caring for others. Wil was a devoted husband, with what would have been his 70th wedding anniversary on March 13. He cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and his beloved animal companion, Digger.
Wil is survived by his sons, Gil Maples (Nancy) and Lee (Yang) Maples, as well as his grandchildren: Janna Maples, Adam and Brooke Maples, and great-granddaughter Olivia Blake Maples. He was preceded in death by his father, George Harley Maples, mother, Hattie B Maples, and wife, Thelma Spriggs Maples.
Wil attended New Hope Primary School and New Hope High School before furthering his education at Auburn University. He proudly served in the US Air Force for 4 years, with his service ending on September 16, 1955.
With a career spanning 60 years as a Pharmacist, Wil's dedication was unmatched. Even at the age of 89, he was recertified as a pharmacist, showcasing his passion for helping others. Wil enjoyed fishing, hunting, and reading in his leisure time.
A service to honor Wil's life will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Fairfax Methodist Church. Visitation will start at 1:00 PM before the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Wilburn's name to the Fairfax Methodist Church. or Compassus Hospice.
Valley Point Funeral Home in West Point, GA, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I sure hate this,Mr.Wil was always a smiling, caring and amazing person to see Everytime is go to drug store, when he was there. It was always a nice day when you got to see him & Mrs.Thelma, they will be missed and dearly Loved.
I was crazy about Will Maples and his wife Thelma. They were wonderful people. He was a friendly and witty person and mentor to me. I will miss him so much.
