Obituary For Vivian Harper Harrell

Vivian Harper Harrell was born on March 11, 1934, in Siluria Alabama and passed from this earth into Christ’s loving arms on January 20, 2026. "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live, even though they die.” She is with her Lord and Savior.

Vivian is preceded in death by Frank Colville Harrell (2019), her husband and friend for over 70 years; her parents, Herman and Vera Harper; Colville's parents, Roy and Pearl “Bebe” Harrell; Vivian's sister Joanne Norris, her husband, Awbrey Norris, and their son, William; Colville's older brother, Roy, his wife Julie, and their daughter, Nancy; Frank and Gail Ball (Colville's younger sister), their son, Wesley, many other family members, several of “The Girls”, and other dear friends.

Vivian is survived by her children, Frank Colville Harrell, Jr. “Cal”, his wife Lori, their children, Frank and his fiance’ Ayumi, Lillian and her husband Steve, James and his special friend, Jessy; John, his wife Diane, and their daughter, Chloe; and Lura Hammock, her husband Randall, their sons Luke, his wife Katie, and their sons, Eli and Franklin, and Mark; nephew, David Norris, and Lisa; and her remaining lifelong friends.

When Vivian was a young child, she, her sister, and her parents moved to West Point, Georgia, where she would spend the rest of her childhood and meet Colville, her husband to be, a mere two doors down. Vivian graduated from West Point High School in 1952, where she was a cheerleader. Vivian attended, and graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now Auburn University, in 1956.

She and Colville married in 1956 in West Point and raised their three children in Columbus, Georgia, where she found a church family in The First Presbyterian Church of Columbus. Vivian’s devotion to Christ grew as did her knowledge of His word.

In 1985 Vivian and Colville returned to West Point where many friendships and memories from their adolescence endured. She and Colville were active members of the West Point Presbyterian Church.

Her Bible remained tattered and highlighted, with page corners folded, and verses underlined. She spent time with Jesus every day and humbly accepted His grace. Her life was centered around her family, her friends, her church, and especially Christ. Vivian’s faith ascended stairs built by love, and peered through windows hope had opened.

Vivian was a woman of remarkable strength, wisdom, and diligence. She lived a life of integrity, generosity, eager to share the gospel and the love of the Lord with others, and earned praise from her husband and children, serving as a model for virtuous living. She had the gift of hospitality, was an avid gardener, seamstress, artist, and humble homemaker who served Christ and cared for her family, whose steadfast desire was to bring glory to God.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to West Point Presbyterian Church or Sav-A-Life.

Visitation, followed by a memorial service, will be held Tuesday, January 27 at 11:00, at West Point Presbyterian Church 1002 5th Ave, West Point, Georgia.

I did not have the pleasure of being one of Vivian's circle of friends, however; I knew that she was a woman of God and we did share one thing in common. We love God's word and love to study it and we used to like bantering in Sunday School Class. However in light of her passing I thought of her for many hours, and I didn't think of what she did in this world or the impact she may have made on her friends and loved ones. But I did find myself thinking about what she might be doing in God's time now...however that works in heaven, but I do know that she is in a glorious place and that she has finally fulfilled what we're all here to do. That's our goal is to die and be with the Lord... so to whoever sees this, friend or family, try not to be too sad because she has her crown, and she is in the presence and arms of the most glorious person who ever walked on the face of this earth. Our Lord and Savior.. the Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you all. Donna Braik.

Donna Braik,

My heart is so heavy for you and your entire family! Keeping you in thoughts and prayers!

I don't even know where to begin with the memory of this sweet lady. As I am typing this, my eyes are filling with tears. Tears of sweet, precious memories. Ms. Vivian has always been so very special to myself and my family. All I can say is that Heaven gain the Queen Angel when Ms. Vivian walked through the gates. She will be holding church with all her Presbyterian friends (and others) including my mom and dad, as soon as she settles in. Love you Ms. Vivian and THANK YOU for all you taught me through you sweet smile, love and caring.
