Ms. Vicki Yates Cooper age 74 of Valley, Alabama passed away on Wednesday January 20, 2021 at 520 pm at her residence with her family by her side. She was born July 3, 1946 in West Point, GA to the late James and Imogene Yates.
Ms. Cooper is survived by her daughter Melissa (Frank) Taunton, one grand-daughter Miss. Kaelynne Taunton, one sister Annette (Bill) Meadows two nephews Jay (Tracy) Meadows and Keith (Adrianne) Meadows, two nieces Dani Fernandez, Kathryn (Billy) Wagner all of Virginia Beach, VA, several cousins in Valley/Lanett Al, Abilene, TX, Ward, AK and Lagrange, GA.
Ms. Cooper was a member of Plant City Baptist church, where she taught several Sunday School classes and helped with numerous Vacation Bible Schools.
Ms. Cooper was a loved teacher at Bob Harding Shawmut School where she taught all grades (K-6th grade) over the course of 29 years, she also taught in Ozark, AL and Woodstock, GA. She retired from teaching in 2006, but continued to sub teach and work at Chambers County resource center where she loved to design bulletin boards for the teachers.
Ms. Cooper was a graduate of Valley High School Class of 1964, an Auburn graduate Class of 1969 with a BS in Early Childhood and then later went on to receiver her Master's Degree in Early Childhood from Auburn University Class of 1983. She was inducted into the Who's Who Among American Teachers in 1989, 1990, 1994, 2005 and 2006. She was selected as Chambers County's Teacher of the Year for the school year of 1994-1995.
Her hobbies were going to the beach in Virginia Beach and Panama City Beach, working in the yard and drawing for bulletin boards. She loved to watch her Auburn Tigers play football. (WAR EAGLE)
Because of Covid-19 there will only be a graveside service at this time January 30th at 11 EST at Marseilles Cemetery in West Point, GA (anyone is welcome, but you must wear your mask) and at a later date there will be a Celebration of Life at Plant City Baptist Church.
