Obituary For Michelle Thompson
Mrs. Glenda Michelle Thompson, of Valley, Alabama, was born in Langdale, Alabama on November 12, 1962. Michelle, after a brief illness, went home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2025.
She is survived by a loving family, including her husband, Jeff Thompson, her children, Brooke Washburn-Hazelip (Christopher), Lori Clifton (Michael), Dixie Van Meter (Lee), and Matt Thompson (Elizabeth).
Mrs. Thompson is also survived by her grandchildren, Micah and Jayden Kerry, Luke Thompson (Maddie), Logan Clifton (Lindsey), Cade Clifton (Amanda), Ben Clifton, Austin Van Meter and Tucker and Tanner Thompson.
Other survivors include her parents, Victor and Diane Smith, and siblings Angelia McLendon, Vicky Herrick, Kevin Taylor (Toni), David Taylor (Lisa), and Marla Harmon (Roger). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and her extended family Ralph Thompson (Donna), Steve Thompson, and a life-long friend Missi Sherer.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents Luther and Mildred Crower and a special brother-in-law, Raymond McLendon.
Michelle attended Valley High School. She enjoyed working with the public and was employed at Sue’s Chic Restaurant for several years. She also served her community through her employment with Home Health Services.
One of her favorite things to do was searching out and collecting unique items for her booth at Timeless Antiques in Valley, Alabama where she made many friends.
The beach was Michelle’s happy place. She loved Saturdays in the fall watching Auburn football, and she enjoyed spending time in her yard watching the birds and growing beautiful flowers.
Visitation for Mrs. Thompson will be on Tuesday, September 2nd at 1:00 PM EST, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM EST at Valley-Point Funeral Home in Lanett.
Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
Valley Point Funeral Home and Cremation in Lanett, Alabama, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I'm am sorry and torn that I can't be present with you for this celebration of life. As we honor a daughter, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, and a friend, I want to share with you in my appreciation of 'my Ain't Chelle' as we affectionally refer to her. I'll be brief. Whether we have eyes to see it or not, the Bible says that every good gift comes down from above from our Heavenly Father. But, He often uses people to share those gifts with us. I have a few distinct memories about Aunt Michelle that I want to share. She was a small analogy or picture in my life of God's undeserved grace. How so? Because she favored me and was so generous to me although I didn't deserve such love.
I don't have a good long-term memory, but I do remember two things distinctly about her. First, when I was entering the seventh grade, Aunt Michelle took me on a car ride. Along the way, we stopped at some store, probably at my request, which had all sorts of sports hats. (What just happened to the Crimson Tide last weekend is beside the point here)! But, I set my eyes on a Florida State hat, which I couldn't have afforded. It looked cool and to my surprise, she bought it for me. I wore that hat for a long time and even got my first note from a girl saying she liked me because I had that hat on! Second, when I was 16, she had a hand in a very nice car being given to me which I did nothing to earn or deserve. Again, just her grace and favor. I don't know why, but she was always drawn to me with the deepest joy and affection. I didn't deserve it, but I am grateful for it. However, I am most grateful for something which I did not participate in but that was recently shared with me. When talking with my mother over the last few weeks, she shared that 'Ain't Chelle', despite struggling to breath and speak, was able to communicate to her the assurance that she was reconciled to Jesus and that He had her. As a pastor myself, having been at the bedside of many dying people in their last moments, I can say that having such of assurance of her Savior's love in the face of death is no small matter but is all the comfort in the world. And so, while the situation with my daughter prevents me from being present in body, I share with you in spirit, a deep thankfulness to and appreciation for 'my Ain't Chelle'. Our loss means our Heavenly Father has gained a daughter whom Christ purchased with his blood.
