Mary Jane Phelps, 79, of Valley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center. She was born on August 15, 1946, in Dadeville, Alabama, and spent her life caring deeply for the people and things she loved most.

Mary Jane was the kind of person who loved with her whole heart. She was gentle, kind, and always thinking of others before herself. Family meant everything to her, and she showed her love in the little ways — through her time, her listening ear, and her unwavering presence.

A retired florist, Mary Jane had a true gift for creating beauty. Flowers and gardening brought her peace, and her yard reflected her nurturing spirit. She loved traveling and making memories, especially trips to the mountains and her cherished vacations to St. Augustine, Florida. At home, she was happiest watching movies or listening to music, especially anything by Elvis Presley, whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her father, S.G. (Dera) Patterson; her mother, Ruth (Lee) Mann; her sister, Patricia (Gerald) Burt; and her brothers, Guy Patterson and Jimmy Patterson.

Mary Jane leaves behind her brothers John Patterson and Richard (Donna) Patterson; children Chris Ledford, Angie Ledford, Carla (Shane) Dunaway, and Caleb (Hillary) Phelps; her very special niece Billieann (Tim) Langford; her grandchildren Marc (Taylor) Ledford, Ashley (Mark) Hanner, Scott Hinkle, Jessica Ledford, Hali Dunaway, Hanna Williams, Collin (Morgan) Dunaway, Cayla Phelps, Chase Dunaway, Conner Phelps, and Caden Phelps; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who were blessed by her love.

Mary Jane will be remembered for her kindness, her generous heart, and the quiet way she made everyone feel cared for. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Mary Jane’s Celebration of Life will be held at her home at 602 Crestview Lane, Valley, Alabama from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. EST on Saturday, December 27th.
