Obituary For Jean Plant Williamson

Jean Plant Williamson, age 89 of Avondale Estates, GA. passed away peacefully in her home on August 31, 2020 surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Williamson was born in Montgomery, Alabama on August 6, 1931, to the late Benjamin and Frances Plant. Mrs. Williamson grew up in Rockmart, GA. She attended West Georgia University and Auburn University.

Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by her husband the Reverend Doctor Dwight Randall Williamson and son Benjamin (Benji) Williamson. The Williamson’s had three children, Benjamin Samuel Williamson, Jenna Williamson Rogers and John Kurt Williamson. Surviving are Jenna Rogers (Joe)and Kurt (Shannon). Mrs. Williamson has seven grandchildren Callie Rogers Darragh (Charles), Benjamin, Sydney and Kennedy Williamson, Triston Babb, Parker and Braden Erickson and three great grandchildren, Davis Darragh, Collins Darragh and Harper Haggerty.

Mrs. Williamson was a devoted wife for over fifty years. Rev. Williamson was a United Methodist minister in the North Georgia Conference. He served churches in Morrow, West Point and Embry Hills. Rev. Williamson was the Assistant to the Bishop in North Georgia for twelve years. Mrs. Williamson was a strong helpmate in all of Rev. Williamson’s pastorates.

Mrs. Williamson was known for her caring spirit. She visited nursing homes regularly for many years. She will be remembered for her passionate and giving spirit. Professionally, Mrs. Williamson was a kindergarten teacher for eighteen years. She was an antique dealer for twenty-five years. She was highly respected for her knowledge in her profession.

Mrs. Williamson was a member of the Embry Hills United Methodist Church. She served on the Board of Directors of Aldersgate Homes for several years.

Due to the limitations of the current pandemic, there will be no formal visitation.

The family will have a private graveside service at Marseilles Cemetery in West Point, Ga. Reverend William McKoy will officiate.
