Obituary For Janice H. Stephens

Janice H. Stephens, 82 of Opelika, Al went to her Heavenly Home February 27, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her legacy will live on through those who loved her and their amazing memories of her.

Born April 8, 1941 in Shawmut, AL, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Gladys Hammack. She attended Lanett High School where she met the love of her life, Charley Stephens. After dating throughout high school, they were married June 19, 1960. After their marriage Janice devoted her life to raising her two children.

While she and Charley lived in numerous places throughout their life together, they always considered Lake Harding home and lived there for more than 30 years after retirement. In her later life she dedicated much of her time and energy to visits from her grandchildren and loved watching them enjoy the “Lake Life.”

She loved her small country church, Pitts Chapel.

Survivors include her husband, Charley Stephens; children, Kris (Tammy) Stephens, Leah (Charlie) Worsham; grandchildren, Alexandria Regan, Timothy Regan, Lauren Zarb, Stephen Worsham, Kyle Stephens, Ben Stephens, Victoria Stephens, Thomas Moore, Victoria Hightower; nieces, Hope Howard and Cindy Landry,11 great grandchildren and many cousins across the United States, but mainly in the Panhandle of Texas.

Janice will be remembered for her infectious smile, quick wit, her love for cooking and entertaining and the love she shared with her family and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held at Federick-Dean Funeral Home in Opelika April 2, 2024 at 2:00 CT.
