Ferrell Lindsey Lashley, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully of natural causes the afternoon of December 1, 2023, at his home in Valley, Alabama surrounded by family. Ferrell was 83 years old. He was born on September 3, 1940, in Langdale, Alabama. Ferrell was the third child and second son of Manan and Willie Mae Lashley. Ferrell, known for his loving and loyal nature, will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
After serving in the US Navy from 1964 to 1968, Ferrell spent many years working in the grocery business before moving to a position at EAMC-Lanier Hospital prior to retiring in 2006. He was known for his dry sense of humor, hard work, and dedication.
Ferrell was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Manan Lashley, his mother, Willie Mae Hill Lashley, his sister, Patsy Pigg, and his brother, Kenneth (Faye) Lashley.
Ferrell is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Cecilia Gauntt Lashley, his loving children Lynn Lashley, Linde Lashley, and Lauren Lashley, as well as his son-in-law Charlie Leal, daughter-in-law Terri Stringsteen, his grandchildren Carla and Ethan Leal and Tiffany Springsteen, his brother, Mike (Beverly) Lashley, sister Sandra (Gary) Boozer, and brother-in-law Charles Pigg, his nephews Nathan Pigg, Jackie Pigg, Byron Pigg, Alan Pigg, Marc Lashley, Jason Morrow, and his nieces Amy Boozer, Christy Ridley, and Carla Jeffcoat, as well numerous other extended family members.
In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking and reading his bible. Later in life, he discovered a love of perfecting his favorite cake recipes. He'd seen every episode of How It's Made and could, in fact, tell you how it was made. He loved homemade banana pudding. His favorite seasoning was salt, of which there was never enough in any dish.
A visitation will be held on December 5, 2023, at 10 am, followed by a service at 11 am, both at Victory Baptist Church. The graveside service will immediately follow at Langdale Cemetery.
The family would like to thank his former co-workers at EAMC-Lanier Hospital for their support during this difficult time and the staff of Lanier Home Health and Chattahoochee Hospice for the care they provided during his final months.
Ferrell Lindsey Lashley will be remembered for his unwavering love, steadfastness, and faithfulness. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
His favorite bible verse was John 5:24:
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
The funeral arrangements are being handled by Valley Point Funeral Home in Lanett, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christian Service Center or Victory Baptist Church.

Brenda called to tell me. I am sorry. I know you were waiting on the nurse when I called the other day. I remembered when you married. I was not that old. Mom, Dad, Don and I were there. It was beautiful. I pray that you are all well and okay. Ferrell has gone home; no worries. You will see him in God's time, and rest in His glory with Jesus. Love, you.
