Ann Higginbothem Jones, 85, formerly of Lanett AL, passed away on October 17, 2017 at Florence Hand Home in LaGrange GA.after an extended illness.
Born November 17, 1931 in West Point, Georgia, Ann was the daughter of Mary Scott Barton Higginbothem and John Thomas Higginbothem. She was preceded in death by a brother John Thomas Higginbothem, Jr.
She is survived by husband of 66 years Hugh Lamar Jones, daughter and son-in-law Laurie and Ben Yates of LaGrange, GA, two grandchildren Rich (Rachel) Yates of LaGrange and Lauren Yates of LaGrange, a great-granddaughter Aubrey Williams of LaGrange and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ann Graduated from West Point High School and attended Huntington College in Montgomery, AL. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of LaGrange but was previously an active (5th Generation) member of First United Methodist Church of West Point, having been involved in church activities including UMYF counselor, coordinator of younger children's division, children's Sunday School teacher, Administrative Board, Financial Secretary and Church Treasurer and United Methodist Women, having served as Circle leader and treasurer. She was also involved with the Girl Scouts as a leader for several years.
Visitation will be Friday, October 20, 2017, 10:00 am EDT in the Zachry Center of West Point United Methodist Church, followed by a Memorial Service in the Sanctuary at 11:00 am EDT.
Memorials - in lieu of flowers donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of West Point, First United Methodist Church of LaGrange or to West GA Hospice.
