Sarah Lynn Glanton (née Philpot) was born on June 24, 1967 to the late Lou Dora Rhodes and Woodrow Philpot in the Corinth Community of Hogansville. She was lovingly reared with her five siblings: Terry, Angela, Chandra, Darrell, James and special brother, Willie Ector, who provided her a lifetime of joy.
Sarah received her formal education all in Troup County, where she graduated from Hogansville High School and was a proud member of the class of 1985. She later continued her education at West Georgia Technical College in Lagrange with an emphasis in Early Child Development. She always knew that working with children was her calling.
Following her mother’s passing in 1988, she became her family’s nurturing core. In this role, she provided counsel, made a place for others, and always looked after the best interest of the family. She wanted to be at the birth of every niece, nephew and grandchild.
As a young lady, she married Jerry Glanton and to this union two boys were born that she cherished: Jericco and Jerkeem. Sarah was also always a giver, she lovingly helped raise her nephew Marquez Harden, like her own. She deeply loved her family, community, and church, and was loved by them. Sarah remained connected to her local community and committed to well-being of children. In her service to Garden Newman Middle School in Lagrange for ~13 years. For students, she was encouraging, supportive, and nurturing; and for teachers and peers, she was a team player that placed students’ interest first. She will always be remembered for her smile, compassion, love for all students, and that “Mustang Spirit”. She received her early religious education at Wadley Chapel United Methodist Church, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, at a young age. However, she matured in her faith as an active member of Destiny Worship Center International in Hogansville (currently known as Destiny Church of Lagrange) under the leadership of Rev. Christopher Evans. As a part of ministry team responsible for new members and first-time guests. She clearly loved the Lord and remained a committed and faithful servant.
On the morning of June 24th, on her 53rd birthday, GOD saw fit to call her home, so she would take an eternal seat among her heavenly ancestors.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Glanton, of over thirty years, two sons, Jericco (Jinai) and Jerkeem, five grandchildren; Henry, Leonna, Leikjoh, Judaea, and Omega, and special nephew-son, Marquez (Quinisha) Harden. Three brothers, Terry (Barbara) Rhodes, Darrell (Kristina) Philpot and James (Kathy); Two sisters Angela Colton and Chandra (Paul) Roman; mother-in-law, Emma Lou Glanton; aunt, Lillian Rhodes-Cotton and Two uncles, Fred Rhodes and Charles Hardaway; goddaughter, Christa Evans; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and others who knew her as “Gigi”.

I graduated from HHS with Sarah. She was funny and enjoyed going to school with her. So sorry for her family.
I worked with Sarah for many years at GNMS. No matter how bad your day was going, if you met her in the hall, that infections smile would brighten your day. She had a way of lighting up the room without saying a single word. She prayed for me many times. We'd meet in the hall and she'd say, " I'm still praying for you. Everything's going to be ok. " Just those words made me feel as if I could face anything. We may have lost a friend, but Heaven has gained an ANGEL. RiP, Sarah!
