Mrs. Maude Marie (Reeves) Cameron was born on October 11, 1946 to the loving parents of Mr. Willie Henry Reeves Sr. and Mrs. Susie Kate (Beasley) Reeves in the Mountville area of Troup County, Georgia.

She was raised alongside nine brothers and sisters: Willie Henry Jr., Ralph, L.C., James, Jannie Mae, Rebecca, Bernice, and Larry Reeves, who provided her much joy and many fun memories. Maude received her formal education in the Hogansville public school and early religious training locally at Springfield Baptist Church, where she always made herself available if requested to serve in the church’s food service ministry.

As a young lady, she met and eventually married the late Mr. W.T. Cameron, a devoted life partner for 41 years. Through this union, they had five beautiful children: Willie T., Brenda, Jeffery, Vincent, and Kameeka Cameron and later lovely adopted JaMicheal and Zebadian. Although this young couple initially moved away to the city of Atlanta in late 1960s for some time, they later returned to their beloved Hogansville. She retained two of her closest friends from her time in Atlanta to this day, Gloria and Ruby.

She was also deeply involved in several local social clubs. In fact, she was a founding member and served as Vice President of The Purple Rain Social Club, served as Vice President of The Essence Social Club of Hogansville, and a member of The Destine Lady Social Club, all of Hogansville. Through these organizations, she alone with many lifelong friends shared many wonderful memories. You see, she loved entertaining and is said to have been “Queen of the two-step”. With a devotion to family, Maude most reveled in her role as a housewife and mother. She also worked for a period in the custodial division of the Troup County School System and retired in 1992. After retirement, she spent most of her time with her grand and great grandchildren; and preparing meals for her family and always welcoming others in her home. Maude also had a special relationship and understanding of young people, she was protective and did not judge them. She was able to recognize the good in all. Maude would also become a “special mother’ by looking out for her many nieces and nephews, and others in need. By doing so, she was a steady rock to her family and pillar to her community. It can be said that she welcomed everyone with open arms and her wonderful smile was a ray of sunshine. As fate would have it, she also became the last surviving member of her family of origin in 2018.

After suffering prolonged health challenge, on January 27, 2019, God saw fit to call her home early Sunday morning to join her ancestors and reenter his arms. She was preceded in death by her husband the late Mr. W.T. Cameron and other family members.

She is survived by: Seven children: Mr. Willie T. Cameron, Brenda Geter (Roger Geter), Jeffery Cameron (Cynthia Green), Vincent Cameron (Vivian Barnes), Kameeka Crawford (Stanton Crawford), JaMichael Norman and Zebadian Millen all of Hogansville. A one special son: Jasper Woods of Hogansville. Four sisters-in-law: Mrs. Shirley Reeves, Mrs. Eloise Reeves, Mrs. Willie Kate Cameron, and Mrs. Norah Cameron. She also leaves 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, many beloved family and friends, and a special friend, Flavious (Joe) Tigner.
