Mr. Lorenzo McCall was born on October 18, 1945, to the late Abran and Verna Harris McCall. He became terminally ill and succumbed to his illness on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Brightmoor Hospice.
Lorenzo was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. He joined St. Paul C.M.E. Church at an early age. He went on to serve as a Trustee and a member of the St. Paul C.M.E Male Chorus.
His Family: Lorenzo leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 57 years Mollie McCall, two children Vickie McCall and Lorenzo McCall, Jr., a loving daughter-in-law Tammy McCall, two beautiful granddaughters Loren and Leah McCall, one sister Verleda (Ernest) Mitchell, God-son Richard (Tracy) Overton, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
His Career: Lorenzo was a law enforcement veteran. His career began in 1972 and completed his Criminal Justice training at the Georgia Police Academy. He went on to earn his certification from the Georgia Peace Officer Standard and Training Council. He continued to work at surrounding police departments (Hogansville, Greenville, etc.). He became the Chief of the Luthersville Police Department. He retired (2009) from the Meriwether County Board of Education as a School Bus Driver. He also was a Councilman for the town of Lone Oak and resigned in 2019.
His Passion: He was known for and loved helping others in the community using his God-given talents. You name it and he could more than likely repair it. Carpentry was his passion. He loved using his hands to build things. Over the years he contributed to building, renovating, and making repairs at St. Paul C.M.E. Church. He maintained several rental properties in Lagrange, Ga, and surrounding areas. He also was a mechanic and loved working on and repairing cars, etc. Due to his health, he began to scale back.
Trusted, Dependable Family and Friend: Mr. James Hines. James was someone Lorenzo could always call on to assist with building, renovating, going to Home Depot (their favorite place), and overall support. When they weren’t working, they talked about Atlanta sports teams (Atlanta Braves and Falcons). The family appreciates and thanks James for all he has done.
We already greatly miss him. May he rest in heaven.
