Faye Bayless, affectionately known as “Momma Faye”, was born
on February 2, 1946, and transcended on December 8, 2023. She was born
in Auburn, Alabama, and was the daughter of one of Hoganville’s kindest
beloved mothers, Miss Mattie Will Ethridge, and father, Will. E. Ethridge.
She was the sister of Lula Mae, Moreland, Leroy, Charles, and Gladys. She
moved to Hogansville in 1950. There, she attended Westend High School,
where she excelled in English and poetry. She became one of Hogansville’s well
known beloved citizens. Upon finishing high school she moved to Atlanta. It
was there when she heard the voice of the Lord calling her into her purpose
of evangelism. She quickly became known as the four foot fireball for Christ
with a voice like thunder. She prayed continuously and obediently with God’s
guidance for anyone in need of prayer. She preached the Gospel for years with
the Elder Woods Caravan and followed under the teaching of Bishop Lindsay
Smith. Saturday night in home prayer service, “all day” Sunday worship and
sometimes Monday through Friday night praise service was her greatest joy. If
anybody had God’s ear to get a prayer through, it was Momma Faye.
In the following years, she again got a calling; this time to be a caregiver for
the elderly. This was another great joy and passion for her given her devout
feelings for others. She began her career at Canterbury Court Senior Highrise
in Buckhead. She then moved into the private sector of in-home nursing years
later until she retired in 2003.
Evangelist Faye Bayless was a graduate of the Carver Bible College of Atlanta,
where she graduated with her associate’s degree in theology in 1990.
Momma Faye preached the word of God for many years following doing
much more than just her reasonable service until God told her “well done”.
In her time of Leisure, Momma Faye enjoyed Praying Continuously for Others,
Playing Solitaire while devouring Bags of Tootsie Rolls And Butter Scotch
candies mixed with GRIT TV Westerns and ALL Day reruns of Little House
On The Prarie and Waltons with a Side Of Andy Griffith and Washed it All
Down with a 1/2 a cup of Orange Crush Soda. If You Didn’t Have THIS in
Your House... Momma Faye wasn’t a Guest for Long. She Didn’t Come with a
Volume Knob All Though Countless Ear drums wished she Did as You could
Hear Her From Greenbriar to Buckhead.
So Whenever you look up and Think of Momma Faye, Just Smile and
Remember The Small Wonder With MUCH Power.

Mama Faye our protector and faith checker.... I met her in delowe gardens because her son "queze" is my close friend. She made sure we were men of our word and God fearing.... She also trusted us in our decisions..... very strong and spiritually knowing!!!! I knew we were doing right because she didn't see any wrong.... Of course I'll miss her.... But I know she's still protecting and holding us accountable. My mama Faye!!!!!❤️ I love you Queen!!!! My mother and sisters and brothers. Adore you. Dungeon Family!!!!! Forever ma
My heart broke into pieces I loved myself some Faye King is what I used to call her..At her house in Union City years ago and again at a funeral and what a heart felt hug we gave to each other..I'll Alway's remember that beautiful voice and that everlasting smile..Rest well in your new Heavenly Home..
(Know I mean no disrespect when I refer to her as Faye. It is the only name I've ever known all my life) My daughter had just sent me a video of a woman singing "I Know I've Been Changed"! And this woman was "sangin'", not singing!!! I then proceeded to tell her about Faye! About how every homecoming you could look to hear Faye " blow"! I then told her who Faye was related to (Eddie and Gladys) so she could relate to the singing! And not even 10minutes later, I found out Faye had deceased! Such a heart breaker! 💔 To the family, God has acquired a singing angel! May God be with you during this time, but also rejoice, because I know that is what she is doing! And hey Faye...maybe you can get with Cecilia Hopson and do a duet for heaven💖!
Losing a loved one is incredibly painful, and very personal.
