Courtney Rhodes was born July 30, 1986, to the proud parents of Robert Cameron and Velma Rhodes. He accepted Christ in his early years under the leadership of Reverend James Woods and Bishop Christopher Evans. Courtney was a fun, loving, and good guy, and affectionately known as the “gentle giant.” He attended Calaway High School where he excelled in sports with football being his favorite. Big #77, he has hard shoes to fill.
Courtney was a humble, kind, and loving man, and he loved his two children, Aniya and Cameron, with all his heart and soul. Courtney looked out for his kids and took pride in being their father. Courtney was the life of his family, always full of fun, pranks, and laughter. There was never a dull moment when he was around. Courtney was BIG on family, and he loved spending time with his family by taking various vacations to numerous locations. Courtney had a big heart along with big dreams. He stepped out in faith and became his own boss. Courtney purchased his very own “box truck” and fulfilled his dreams of being an entrepreneur. How proud he was of C&R, Courtney and Robert Transportation.
Courtney departed this life on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, and leaves to cherish his memories: his loving mother, Velma T. Rhodes; one son, Cameron Rhodes; one daughter, Aniya Rhodes; ancée, Haley Rutledge; four sisters, Emma Fuller (Jeffery Fuller), Tracey Rhodes, Ti any Rhodes, and Kimija Hopson; one brother, Fredrick Rhodes (Patricia Rhodes); one niece, Taleen Rhodes; one nephew, Derrious Rhodes; special friends as brothers, Rashad Cameron, Jerry Tigner, Jr., Ronnie Dunson (Bae-Bae), and Cartez Strozier “Tez;” extended family, the Rutledge’s, the Davis’s, the Hardnett’s and supporter and friend, Dan McClurkin.
