Mr. Hornsby was born September 15, 1933 in Randolph County, AL to the late Joseph Thompson Hornsby and Essie Susie Gillespie Hornsby. He was a faithful member of Centralhatchee First Baptist Church, and attended every Sunday until his health began to fail him.
Prior to his retirement, he worked as a shipping supervisor for Douglas Lommason in Newnan.
At home, he liked to play the guitar and spend time with his family, whom he loved dearly. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting. He particularly enjoyed hunting rabbits, and had several dogs that served him well in the woods. He always had a four-wheeler or a golf cart that he would drive around the area. His grandchildren always looked forward to a ride with their grandfather.
Survivors include: his wife, Toby Hornsby of Franklin; three daughters: Katrnia Prince (Jerry) of Franklin, Kacelia Hornsby (Steve McElroy) of Carrollton, and Angelia Bailey (Scott) of Franklin; four grandchildren: Jason Prince, Chant Bailey, Bria Buongiorno and Joseph Forman; six great-grandchildren: Maddison, Liara and Sophia Bailey, Chloe Jones, Bentley Forman and Lily McCormick; two sisters: Eris Walston and Jean Kitchens both of Franklin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Zeke Bailey; three sisters: Willie Kate Hembree, Eunice Ridley and Era Walston; and a brother, Coy Hornsby. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children in his name.
Shared by LaGail Hodges on 01/24/2018 I spent many hours at Mr. Etsel's house growing up. He always treated me like one of his own daughters. I went one vacation with them and have great memories of laughing and hang out it there home. Katrnia you are a dear friend and I know you are hurting. Please give your mom and sisters my love.
With Love,
Gail

We can look forward to the promise at 1 Corinthians 15:21, 22 "for just as in Adam all men are dying, so also in the Christ all will be made alive. As you reflect on loving memories to get you through the hours and days ahead, rejoice in the beautiful hope of seeing your loved one again in the promised resurrection at John 5:28, 29."

It is a painful thing to lose a precious love one in death, regardless of how long they have lived. Even Jesus wept when Lazarus died (John 11:35) and it pains our loving Heavenly Father, too. He did not purpose his human family to grow old and die but purpose us to live and enjoy life. It is still his purpose (Psalms 37:11, 29). He calls death an enemy that will be removed forever (1 Corinthians 15:26; Isaiah 25:8). He promised to awaken our love ones in the memorial tombs from asleep in death__ Isaiah 26:19 “Your dead will rise ...Awake and shout joyfully you residents in the dust! ...the earth will let those powerless in death come to life." He will then reverse the aging process__ Job 33:24,25 “Let his flesh become fresher than in youth; Let him return to the days of his youthful vigor.” What a delight it will be to see them again to enjoy life as our Creator purposed (Psalms 145:16)! Allow these words to keep comforting all of you."
