Obituary For Edna Lee McWhorter Keel

Mrs. Edna Lee McWhorter Keel, age 91, of Roopville passed away February 8, 2018.

A private graveside service was held February 10, 2018 at Jackson’s Gap Baptist Church Cemetery in Tallapoosa County, Alabama with the Rev. Boyd Miller officiating.

Mrs. Keel was born November 18, 1926 in Cleburne County, Alabama to the late Lee Rosco McWhorter and Josephene Amma McLendon McWhorter.

She was a woman of strong faith and read her Bible daily. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, and attended when she was able. She loved her church and her church family.

She was a sweet loving woman, who held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always looked forward to family reunions.

In her spare time she liked to garden. She was especially proud of her grancy graybeard bush. She also enjoyed reading and listening to religious music.

Survivors include: three sons: Nathaniel Keel (Norma) of Carrollton, Dr. Edwin Keel (Connie) of Oxford, AL, and Samuel Keel of Tampa, FL; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Nell Davis and Alma Keel; and a number of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Anderson Keel; one daughter-in-law, Pam Cook-Keel; one grandson, Brian Keel; one sister, Josephene Denney; and two brothers: Malcolm McWhorter and Stipe McWhorter.
