Obituary For Viola Parker

Viola Parker was born on December 29, 1939 to the late Esten and Delphina McGougan, in Lumber Bridge, North Carolina. She peacefully transitioned into Life Eternal on June 16, 2022 at Columbus Hospice of Georgia.

Viola committed her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Spring Lake Memorial Baptist Church. Upon moving to Washington, Viola joined Mt.Tabor Baptist Church and was a faithful member until moving back to Columbus Georgia. Viola received her formal education at Cumberland County Public Schools and she continued her education at Fayetteville State University. After College, she worked as an educator and retired in 2010.

Viola was married to the late Benjamin Parker and they were blessed with three wonderful daughters. Viola enjoyed traveling, and spent 10 years of her life living and working in West Germany. She was admired by all and shared her wisdom with the young and old. Her hobbies included reading her bible, sewing, baking, gardening, antique collecting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her loving memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of: Three daughters, Dedra Parker of Spring Lake, NC; Phaedra Parker-Kinzer (Arthur) of Charleston, SC; and Andra Rainey (Carl) of Olympia, WA; five grandchildren; Steve Kinzer; Benjamin Kinzer; and Kelly Troglin (Nicholas) of Charleston, NC; Austin Parker of New Orleans, LA; and Alexis Parker of Atlanta, GA. Eight great-grandchildren, Madison Kinzer, Jabarri Kinzer, Jos’siah Kinzer, Kaylanna Herman, Sailor Troglin, Nicholas Troglin Jr., Jace Kinzer, Drayton Troglin all of Charleston, SC and Jamiah Houghtaling of Olympia, WA, Two Sister-in-law Clara McNeil (Frank) and Alice Parker-Melvin (Jesse) of Fayetteville, NC, Two Brother-in-law John Pelsey (Betty), and Ray Battle of Fayetteville, NC, One Aunt, Faye Fulton of Fayetteville, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 1pm at Spring Lake Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Spring Lake.

A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from12-1pm.
