Mrs. Sarah M. Meadows passed away quietly Thursday in Decatur, GA at the age of 80.
A native of Harris County, GA and the daughter of the late Ransom and Bessie Smith Farley, Mrs. Meadows had been employed in the Food Service/Catering field and at Bibb Manufacturing Company. She attended William H. Spencer High School and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Hamilton, GA. She was a member of Ida and the Gospel Pearls and The Pettis Sisters Gospel Singers. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Meadows, Sr and four siblings, Thomas Farley, Betty A. Ghant, John L. Farley and Eddie J. Farley.
Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne Alexander(Tony) and Carolyn Hughes; one son, James M. Meadows, Jr; four grandchildren, Tony Jr., Jonathan, Lauren and Taylor; six great grandchildren, Tony III, Nicholas, Skylar, Toni, Alayah and Aubree; two brothers, Ransom (Katie) and Herman Farley(Shirley); two sisters, Ida Walker and Grace Calloway(Eddie); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Meadows will be laid to rest at Green Acres Cemetery on Friday, April 29, 2022 following a Eleven O'clock AM Homegoing Celebration at the Chapel of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc., officiated by Rev. J.W. Jones.
Visitation is 4:00 til 6:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
