Ozella Marshall Banks was born to the late William and Annie L. Marshall on August 14, 1947 in Cataula, Georgia. She was called home on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, GA.
Ozella graduated from Carver High School in 1965. Soon after she relocated to Los Angeles, California where she completed training at the College of Data Processing and International Business Machine’s General Systems Division as she began a career in data processing and account management until returning to Columbus in 1980.
Upon her return to Columbus, she began her career in accounting with the Medical Center of Columbus, soon transferring her career to Tom’s Foods, Inc. until her retirement in 1996. Upon her return to Columbus, Ozella served as a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church until transferring her membership to Greater Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in 1983 after her union to James R. Banks, Jr. Ozella served as a faithful member of the mass choir, Deaconess Wives, General Mission and Sunday School attendee.
Ozella was preceded in death by her siblings; Kenneth Marshall, Ann Marshall, Andrew Marshall, and William H. Marshall.
She will be cherished with loving memories by her devoted husband, James R. Banks, Jr., her siblings: Etta Johnson, Doretha Bledsoe, Denise Marshall and sisterin-law, Mattie Marshall, all of Columbus, GA; Annette Bridges (Levi) of Apex, NC; Rosalyn Ward and Isaiah Marshall of Los Angeles, CA; Deborah Marshall of Decatur, GA; Special niece and nephew, Jasmine McCray and Tyrone Bledsoe; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Graveside Service for Mrs. Ozella Banks will be held Monday, February 15, 2021at 1:00 P.M. at Green Acres Cemetery.
