Charles Michael Marshall (His birth name; more about his name later) was born on September 18, 1960, in Fort Benning, Georgia. He loved his family and his friends. He was a Christian and was affectionately known as Michael, Unc, Brother, Cousin, Mike, Marshall, and Friend. Michael attended Columbus public schools and was a proud graduate of George Washington Carver High School in 1978. He spent 4 years in the United States Army. When he returned from the Army, he decided to settle in Columbus.
Michael was a faithful member of the Cusseta Road Church of Christ. He would want you to know the Lord and all of His goodness. Trust. Believe. Practice. Be Faithful.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Charlie Marshall, and brother/cousin Walter McCroskey.
Family was important to him. His loves were his devoted sisters, Helen (Roger) Johnson (Newport News, Virginia) and Marion Marshall (Dallas, Texas), and his now-deceased brother/cousin, Walter (Loretta) McCroskey. Niece Atrinka Nicole McCroskey, her children Briana Hambrick and Cordell Dixon, Jr., and great, great-niece Ariyana Hambrick. Niece Monique and her husband Dennis Marquardt with children Makeda Marquardt Thomas (Tommy) and Dennis James Marquardt, nephew Ryan Johnson and wife Janine and their children Jasmine and Ja’Nalise, and great-great-niece Zoe. Michael had a host of extended family members. And his goddaughter Nakia "Fruity" Andrews.
Michael passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the age of 65.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Marshall will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Cusseta Road Church of Christ with interment at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Progressive
