Lucious Irvin Smith, Sr. (A01 Retired, Navy) transitioned home peacefully Sunday at the age of 84.
The son of Clarence E. and Rose Pitts Smith, Mr. Smith was born in Columbus, GA and was a graduate of William H. Spencer High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He retired following 20 years of dedicated service to his country. He was of Baptist faith. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lola Comer.
Surviving his departure with cherished memories, include; his wife, Mrs. Vera Buckner Smith, a son, Lucious I. Smith, Jr. (Kathy); two daughters, Rose D. Summers (Andrew) and Cassandra Y. Simmons (Craig); three step sons; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Smith, Sr. (Lula); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Smith will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Progressive Funeral Home Chapel with entombment following Monday at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home Saturday at 1:45 p.m.
