Lincoln Douglas Shipp passed away peacefully Wednesday at the age of 93.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Shipp will be Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 12 noon at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church with Pastor David Stallion officiating.
The interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery with Military Honors accorded.
Visitation is Wednesday, 2 til 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The only son of the late Mr. Quilbert Penchback Shipp and Mrs. Martha Walker Shipp, Mr. Shipp was born in Cusseta, Chattahoochee County, GA and was a graduate of William H. Spencer High School. He served with the U. S. Navy, and was retired from Civil Services, Ft. Benning, GA following 37 years of dedicated service with the Department of Transportation. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church where he served diligently as a Deacon, Church Clerk for over 50+ years, with the Brotherhood Ministry and Vacation Bible School, New Members Class Teacher, and was also the Church Custodian for many years. Mr. Shipp was also a member of the Men's Progressive Club, the Moderns Club, and was a Prince Hall Mason (Life member). Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years and seven mothers, Mrs. Ethel Cody Shipp, seven sisters, Ruby Jefferson, Louvenia Lee, Gladys Howard, Bernice Elzy, Esther Stewart, Martha Averett and Mary Harrow.
Surviving his departure with cherished memories, include: his loving and devoted nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
