Mr. Larry Hagan passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born on September 20, 1941, to the late Sam Hagan and Gladys Meadows Hagan in Carrollton, GA.
Larry Hagan was born in Carrollton, Georgia, on September 20, 1941. He was the oldest child of Sam and Gladys Hagan. He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife Edna James Hagan, and his sister Delores Moore.
Larry attended Carver High School in Carrollton, Georgia, and graduated as the class Valedictorian in 1959. He continued his education by attending Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama, and Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. After leaving the military, he continued his education at West Georgia College in Carrollton, Georgia, where he earned a BA in Physical Science in 1970. Larry worked briefly as a mathematics teacher at Dougherty High School in Albany, Georgia, and later with the Department of Defense as an Electronic Technician at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia. Moving up the ranks from electronic technician, he embarked upon an esteemed 22 year career with the Federal Aviation Administration, ending with his promotion as a Manager for the System Support Center for Air Traffic Control at the Columbus Metro Airport. He retired in July, 2002.
Larry gave generously of his time and talent. He and his wife were members of St. Anne Catholic Church for almost forty years. Larry was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree Knight. He also served as an usher at St. Anne Church and was a member of the lectionary bible study.
Larry is survived by his loving daughters, Erika H. Screws (William) of Columbus, Georgia and E. Lynne Jenkins (Earnest) of Columbus, Georgia; granddaughter, Ashlyn Jenkins; grandsons, William L. Screws, Jr., Brice Screws, and Ayden Jenkins; two brothers, James Hagan (Dianne) of Albany, Georgia and John Hagan (Joyce) of Warner Robins, Georgia; two nieces, three nephews, three grandnieces, and a host of cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Hagan will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, and interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, 2 until 5:00 p.m., with the Rosary beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Progressive.
