Ms. Julia M. Hill passed away quietly Sunday at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center at the age of 86. A native of Rutherford, AL and the daughter of the late James and Carrie Brown Coleman, Ms. Hill was raised by a loving step-father, the late James Callier.
Residing in Columbus most of her life, she retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Martin Army Community Hospital after over 28 years of services. She was a faithful longtime member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Upatoi, GA. Other than her parents; she was preceded in death by a son, Dexter Phillips; three brothers; James Coleman, Jr., Edward Coleman and Herman Coleman; a sister, Carol Walker; and a granddaughter, Catherine Phillips Fairley.
Survivors include a son, Tony Phillips; two grandchildren; Deanna Phillips and Victoria Phillips Powers; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers; Jimmy Coleman (Geraldine) and Ben Coleman (Juanita); two sisters; Particia Tolbert (Willie) and Cleo Newbery (Gilbert); a devoted friend, Grace Taylor; and a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Ms. Hill will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park on Saturday, June 17, 2023 after an Eleven O'clock AM Homegoing Celebration in the Chapel of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc. officiated by Rev. F.R. Smith.
Visitation is 1:00 til 5:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. The Progressive Staff is privileged to serve the Hill Family.
