John Wesley “Pea Goose” Carson age 81 transitioned into rest on April 1,2021.
John was born in Adairsville, GA to the late Clay Carson and Ruby Conley Carson on April 12,1939. He was educated in a 3-room elementary school for blacks in Adairsville, GA, Summerhill High School in Cartersville, GA, and continued at Troy State University. He was a member at Grace’s Chapel AME Church in Adairsville. He diligently served in the United States Army Airborne Infantry and retired as a highly decorated Sergeant First Class. Among his many medals and decorations are two Bronze Star Medals with Valor for heroism in ground combat operations against hostile forces. Additionally, John was presented the Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star by the Government of the Republic of Vietnam
John is survived by two sons: Colonel Eugene Moore (Talethia Parker Moore), George Moore (Wendy Dailey Moore), 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves to cherish his memory a loving sister, June Carson Hill and niece Myla Carson.
John is preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia Moore Carson, his parents Clay and Ruby Carson, his brother Richard Carson, and his niece Joy Hill.
Also remembering John are a host of cousins and friends.
Homegoing Services will be Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 6. 2021 beginning at 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Progressive.
