Miss Jakayla Jakya Jackson passed away peacefully Sunday at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center at 17 years of age.
The Homegoing Celebration for Jakayla will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 12 noon at The Bridge Church with Pastor Vince Allen officiating.
The interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery.
The beloved daughter of Ms. Siobhan Brooks Franklin of Columbus and Mr. Shay O. Jackson (Kim) of Phenix City, Jakayla was a native of Columbus who was a Junior at Columbus High School where she served with the Cheerleading Squad. She was active with the Cheerleading Competitions as a Freshmen, and was currently a member of the National Science Honor Society. Her college aspiration was to attend Georgia Southern University where she would study Veterinary Science. She was a member of The Bridge Church and volunteered with PAWS Humane and Animal Ark.
Survivors, other than her parents include: a loving and devoted grandfather, SFC (Ret) Henry Brooks, Sr.; four siblings, Kaylee Franklin, Shannon Bonaparte, Kamiyis Jackson and Zari Jackson; her grandparents, Carolyn Brooks and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy and Faithaniel Jackson; her great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James and Agnes Mitchell; a host of loving aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
