Mr. Harry Aaron Fennell, Sr., was born in Liberty County July 29, 1945 to the late Mrs. Louise and Mr. Lee Fennell, Sr.
Mr. Harry was a graduate of Liberty High School in Hinesville, Ga. and later attended Syracuse University, Phillips Junior College, and Meadows College where he obtained an Associate’s degree.
Mr. Fennell was a United States Army Veteran serving with Special Forces during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed with Civil Services in Fort Benning, Ga. where he worked in the Logistics Department and later retired.
He was a faithful member of Royal Priesthood Holiness Church in Columbus, Ga.
Other than his parents, Mr. Harry was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Fennell, Jr., John Fennell and one sister, Sarah Hunt.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Mrs. Myrtis A. Fennell; five sons, Larry Chapman(- Amanda), Keith Hill, John Shelling(Kimberly), Derek Shelling, Harry Fennell, Jr.(Melissa); two daughters, Kenya Wooden(Vincent), La’Quita Shelling; one brother, Willard Fennell; 21 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; one aunt, Eldoris Jackson(Ernest); one uncle, Charles Taylor; beloved-inlaws, Peggy Dotson(Herbert), Milo Slocumb, Karl Slocumb(Lucinda), Bernard Thornton, Jesse Curry, Jr., Douglas Russ, Johnny Hall; two daughters-in-love, Crystal Copeland, Iceland Williams; and a host of relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Fennelll will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 11 A.M. in The Chapel of Progressive Funeral Home followed by an interment at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
Visitation hours will begin Wednesday at 3 P.M. and end at 5 P.M. at the funeral home.
