Mr. George Henry Jackson passed away quietly Saturday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years old. A native of Williamsport, TN and the son of the late George and Francis Johnson Jackson, he retired from the U.S. Army as First Sergeant after over 21 years of service. He also retired from Civil Services at Ft. Benning, GA after 24 years of service. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and was a member of the Belvedere Park Congregation. In his pastime, George loved to deep sea fish, hunt and gardening. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Montague and a brother, Jimmie L. Jackson.
Survivors include a loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Mrs. Nadine Fortson Jackson; two loving children, Vincent C. Jackson and Tracy Jackson Lewis (Roderick); two grandchildren, Jackson Montague and Madison Lewis; a great grandchild, Addisyn Mills; his in-laws, Chuck Fortson (Dorothy), Sarah Gilbert and Maxine Gilbert; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Jackson will be conducted on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 3:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5450 St. Mary's Road, with Minister Donald L. Stenson officiating.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive visitors 4:00 til 6:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
