Reverend Ervin L. Fleming, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Friday. He was 83 years old. A native of Phenix City, AL. and the son of the late Ernest and Mittie L. Saunders Fleming, Reverend Fleming was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, retiring as Technical Sergeant after over 17 years of service. He was a graduate of Columbus Technical College's program of Cosmetology and a graduate of Selma Theological Seminary. He was a member and associate Minister of Greater Peace Baptist Church and an Associate Minister at Greater New Hope Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Dr. Curtis L. Fleming and Ernestine Williams.
Surviving is a devoted wife of 63 years, Mrs. Marjorie Cook Fleming; three sons, Reverend Ervin L. Fleming, Jr (Thelma), Darryl Fleming and Hiram A. Fleming; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Ayers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Reverend Fleming will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, Alabama on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 after an Eleven O'clock AM Homegoing Celebration in the Chapel of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc. His son, Reverend Ervin L. Fleming, Jr. will deliver the Eulogy.
Visitation begins 3:00PM Monday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends 4:00 til 5:00 PM. Arrangements entrusted to Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
