Mrs. Edna White Bruce passed away Monday at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, GA at the age of 84.
A native of Detroit, MI and the daughter of the late Charlie and Sally Webster White, Mrs. Bruce was a graduate of Northeastern High School, attended Shaw University and received her associate's degree from Troy State University. For some 18 years until her retirement, she was employed as a Dietician with Rice Services at Ft. Benning, GA. She also was employed in Customer services at the Columbus Ledger Enquirer and was a veteran of the United States Army. A devout member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, she was a member of the Deaconess and Matron Ministries as well as a member of the Vocal choir.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Mr. Chester Bruce and seven siblings, Mattie Brooks, Lucille White, Bessie White, Josephine White, Charles White, Elbert White and John White.
Survivors include one daughter, Angela Bruce Giles (Arnold); one son, Anthony Milo Bruce; a granddaughter, Olivia Bruce; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Bruce will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday, May 7, 2023 in the sanctuary of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church officiated by Pastor David L. Stallion.
She will be laid to rest with her husband at Evergreen Memorial Park on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 3:00 PM.
Visitation is 2:00 til 5:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
