Mrs. Carrie Bell Shaw, 83, transitioned home peacefully Monday at Columbus Hospice.
The daughter of Will Harper and Sarah Davis Harper Garner, Mrs. Shaw was born August 23, 1937 in Coal Valley, AL. She was a member of the 6th Avenue Baptist Church where she served with the Usher Ministry and the Kitchen Committee. She retired following fifteen years with the State of Alabama as a clerk with the ABC Store and was also a permanent substitute teacher with the Walker County Schools serving at Jasper Middle School.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Henry Shaw and 15 siblings. Survivors include: her children, Pamela Shaw-Grant (Charles), Paula Shaw-Powell (Rev. Michael), Keith Shaw and Kelvin Shaw (Hersula); nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a sister, Sarah Hagler (Robert), and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Shaw will be held Monday, August 2, 2021, at 11:00 AM Graveside at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Reverend Andriane Burgess officiating.
