Loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, spouse, sibling, relative, and friend, Bruce Tibbs peacefully left this earthly life on December 14, 2020, after 91 years.
Mr. Tibbs, son of the late Jessie Hogan and Roosevelt Tibbs, was born on September 28, 1929. Bruce retired from the Army after serving 24 years. During this time, he married the love of his life that he just reunited with in heaven, the late Doris Tibbs. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Rudolph and Huey Tibbs and his daughter, Brenda M. Tibbs Wright.
His love of fishing is what many will remember about him. He would fish anywhere there was water. Even though he loved fishing, most of all he loved and cherished his children and grandchildren. Bruce’s life was well lived. He will be missed but never forgotten by those who loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory:
His sons: Bruce O. Tibbs (Sandy) and Brian Tibbs (Nell); Son-In-Law: Joe Wright (Brenda); Grandchildren: Autumn Tibbs Carter (Eddie), Brandon Tibbs, Damon Wright, Candis Wright, Chad Wright (Tina), Tiana Tibbs Culley (Marcus), Briandy Tibbs, Amber Tibbs Turner (Jerry), and Brian Tibbs II; Great Grandchildren: Paris Carter (Autumn), Jacobi Barrett (Candis), Ava Noel Wright and Savannah Wright (Damon), Chad Wright Jr and Giselle Wright (Chad & Tina), Aniya Turner and Jerry Turner IV (Amber & Jerry), and Izaydah Culley (Tiana & Marcus); Sister In Laws: Shirley Tibbs (Huey) and Audrey Nichols; Many relatives from the Tibbs family, Charleston family, DeMello family, Wright family, and Cook family and friends.
Visitation will be held, Monday, December 21, 2020 from 12 to 3 PM at Progressive Funeral Home, 4235 St. Mary’s Road, Columbus, GA 31906. Celebration of his life and burial will be noon on December 22, 2020 at Fort Benning Main Post Cemetery. Because of COVID-19, we are asking that only close friends and family attend and respectfully social distance.
