Obituary For Betty Jean Jackson
There is no death! The sun goes down
To rise upon some fair shore
And bright in Heaven’s jeweled crown
To shine forever more.
There is no death an angel form
Walks o’er the earth with silent tread
And bears our best loved ones away
Although she is not here but at rest!
Ms. Betty Jean Jackson, the daughter of the late Rozell and Cleo Arnold Jackson, departed this life, at the age of 80, on January 9, 2023 at 2:30 AM, after an extended illness, at Columbus Hospice Georgia & Alabama.
She was born in Dawson, Georgia on March 5, 1942. She attended school in the Muscogee County School District, Columbus, Georgia. During her young and middle ages, she lived at a long term assisted living facility located in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Through the persistence and tenacity of her older, now deceased brother, Robert Jackson, Betty was finally relocated back to Columbus, Georgia, where she resided at Creekside Group Home for many years. She recently, was placed at Peaceful River Residential Services, LLC for a short period. Due to declining health, Betty was placed under hospice care until her untimely death, January 9, 2023. Due to her condition, Betty did not attend church while there at New Horizon. However, we felt that she had a special relationship with the Lord. Although, Betty lived in assisted living facilities, she enjoyed her outings when shopping and interacting with others at Columbus Service Center with Miss Peaches. She had a loving relationship with her roommates Ms. Alma and Ms. Carolyn. Her caregivers, the Creekside Chicks, Ms. Sally, Ms. Judy, Ms. Rhonda, Ms. Patricia, Ms. Joyce, and Ms. Ann, who affectionately called her “Petty Betty”, truly loved her and gave her the best of care. Thanks to the staff and caregivers at Peaceful River Residential Services, LLC for the professional healthcare service they provided for Betty. They, also, were very fond of her as well.
Betty was predeceased by her father and mother; her brothers Albert L. Jackson, Rozell (Jack/Jr.) Jackson, Robert L. Jackson, Marvin Jackson, Willie James “Early Bird” Jackson and a sister Rosa Lee Jackson Clark.
Surviving relatives are four devoted nieces Pastor Gladis Lee, Albany, Georgia, Dana Williams, North Brunswick, New Jersey, Deborah Rose Clark, Bayonne, New Jersey and Diane Beason, Munster, Indiana. One nephew Mau Priest Jabbar Jackson (Neka) and a Sister-in-Law, Lanette Jackson, both from Sandys Parish, Bermuda. Two special cousins Brenda Sneed Augustus and Dr. Burma Sneed Williams (David), Columbus, Georgia, Marcus L. Thomas, Columbus, Georgia, Dr. Bryant L. Thomas, Conyers, Georgia, Demoines D. Williams, Columbus, Georgia, Patrick S. Williams (Ashley), Orange Park, Florida, Margie Dyer Cosme, Reading, Pennsylvania, Annie RuthDyer, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Peggy Dyer, Jersey City, New Jersey, Ennis Dyer, Phoenix, Arizona and a host of other relatives and friends.
We know thou have gone to a place of rest
Then why should our hearts be sad?
We know thou has gone where the weary one rest
Where the mourners look up and are glad.
The Homegoing Celebration for Ms. Jackson will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 3:00 PM Progressive Chapel. Service will be live-streamed (see clickable link below)
